A dream of taking time for myself

I painted dreams of

when I get to be older.

I turned my head from people who said,

"Oh Granny Diane, old age is lonely

especially for painters who paint alone."

I just went ahead and painted a dream

of taking time for myself to paint.

I love this piece. The combing (?) effect you used in the sky pulls me in. There is a peace and loneliness in it.

This is such a special piece -- VanGogh(esque)! What a lovely story to tell -- in such an expressive and loving way.

Van Gogh is my favorite. After I read your post on my blog this morning -- I opened my mother's day present from my daughter and guess what it was - Van Gogh in Arts and Letters (a large book) How approproe!

Happy MOther's Day to you.

Thank you all for your comments. I haven't read through here for a long time and am pleased. Cathie, I know you have been inspired by Van Gogh. And this week I have been studying my iris.
